Ultimaker 2, 3D printer

Another exciting tool just arrived in the Open Lab!  The first print, a small robot, took about 30 minutes.  It prints using biodegradable PLA.  Here is the very start of the process:

Today we had some big problems with the 3D printer. This tends to be par for the course when it comes to 3D printers, even though this is one of the best available models. Still, it took some tinkering and at one point I really needed a pair of tweezers to hold some of the parts in place while I removed and replaced screws. I didn't have any tweezers but then I realized that I DID have tweezers... I used the 3D printed ones from yesterday and the printer is once again working!
